Modeling and performance analysis for IPv6 traffic with multiple QoS classes

چکیده
This paper focuses on the modeling and performance analysis for IPv6 traf®c with multi-class QoS in virtual private networks (VPN). The multi-class QoS is implemented on differentiated service basis using priority scheme of 4 bits de®ned in the packet header of IPv6. A VPN-enabled IP router is modeled as a tandem queuing system in which each output link consists of two parallel priority output queues. The high-priority queue is used to carry the delay sensitive traf®c while the low-priority queue is used to carry the delay insensitive traf®c. On the other hand, multiple thresholds are implemented in each queue, respectively, for packet loss priority control. The performance analysis is done using ¯uid ¯ow techniques. The numerical results obtained from the analysis show that the differentiated service based on the priority schemes de®ned in IPv6 is able to effectively satisfy the multi-class QoS requirement for supporting multimedia services in VPN. The performance trade-off between the delay sensitive traf®c and delay insensitive traf®c in terms of traf®c throughput, packet loss probability and end-to-end delay in VPN networks is presented.

QoS experiences in native IPv6
Deployment of IPv6 technology in research and commercial networks has been accelerated in the last few years. Inevitably, as more advanced services take advantage of the new technology, IPv6 traffic gradually increases. Today, there is limited experience in the deployment of Quality of Service (QoS) for IPv6 traffic in backbone networks that support the Differentiated Services framework. As ava...
متن کاملQoS experiences in native IPv6 GRNET and 6NET networks
Adoption of IPv6 technology has been accelerated in the last few years but there is limited experience in the deployment of Quality of Service (QoS) for IPv6 traffic in backbone networks. As available software and hardware is designed to handle IPv4 packets, there is a need to accurately measure the performance of QoS mechanisms in an IPv6 environment. This paper discusses tests in the deployme...

Internet Traffic has grown exponentially over last few years due to provision of multiple class services through Internet backbone. With the explosive use of Internet, contemporary Internet routers are susceptible to overloads and their services deteriorate drastically and often cause denial of services. In this paper, an analysis is made how forecasting technique, routing algorithm and Genetic...
متن کاملScalable Intra and Inter Domain IPv6 QoS Management and Pricing Scheme
Network multimedia applications constitute a large part of Internet traffic and guaranteed delivery of such traffic is a challenge because of their sensitivity to delay, packet loss and higher bandwidth requirement. The need for guaranteed traffic delivery is exacerbated by the increasing delay experienced by traffic propagating through more than one QoS domain. Hence, there is a need for a fle...

This paper presents a new framework of Quality of Experience (QoE) in mobile network. The user acceptance of a mobile application depends on the application’s perceived QoE. Currently, there is no comprehensive framework which integrates QoE and Quality of Service (QoS). The components of framework consist of the network mobility users, traffic classification matrixes and QoE key metric. The pe...
